Debunking Another Seo Myth

It’s my favourite time of the day again, time to debunk another seo myth. This time it’s time to know the truth about link building relevancy. This post is also further supported here: link relevancy and it is also backed up by one of SEO CITY’s favourite seo people Leslie Rohde.

It doesn’t matter if the websites you get links from are in the same industry, niche, category or genre as yours. If you analyze the power backlinks from many heavy hitting websites you’ll soon learn this to be a given. What matters is domain age, domain trust and domain authority. The more a website has of these on their side, the stronger the backlink they give out becomes.

At this moment in time search engines do not understand the english language enough to fully determine all the possibilities that the text on the page refers to. That’s why Google places such a strong emphasis on anchor text links, and why they base links as one of the highest factors in their algorithm.

In the future their software engineers may possibly be able to work this out. But this is a long, long way, away. Just like the future.

There was even a popular myth named latent semantic indexing that loads of unscrupulous and just plain deluded search engine gurus, seo consultants, and anyone selling a seo course put out, and in many cases are still putting out as fact. Kinda like the big bang theory and BBC4 panel presenters.

This has also been disproved by the search engine scientists at StomperNet. Not the big bang theory (for that you just have to remember God) but latent semantic indexing. Be careful what you read. And don’t believe it until you try it out for yourself. So if you have been offered 100 links from websites in the same field as yours forget about it. Unless they have some aged domains and a good backlink portfolio and history don’t waste your time.
