Tracking Seo Results

Today it’s Part 6 in our 6 Steps To Successful Seo Series. Tracking Results. Click  here for Part 5

After you have set everything in place in your seo campaign it’s time for the fun part, tracking results. You can do this manually by going to Google, Yahoo and Bing and typing in your keyphrases and then looking to see where your website comes up. Heck if you even change the advanced preferences you can display up to 100 listings per page instead of the usual ten.

But to do this manually for all your keywords is a bit much. There are many rank tracking software programmes like Link Assistant and Market Samurai. We use Market Samurai as it allows us to check rankings in any country we provide our services. There are also plenty of free alternatives or you can go the manual route if you just want to check a few keywords on your own website.

This is the fun bit of seo. It’s where we get to check whether our current seo strategies are working. It can help determine if any new methods of doing optimization are having good effect.

Not only is keyword position important when it comes to tracking our results but also our website analytics. If you have installed Google Analytics or some other analytics programme, or maybe if you are using your web logs, you can find out how much traffic your website is getting.

You can find out how much traffic each keyword is bringing you, where your visitors come from, and how long the average visitor stayed on your page. This is fantastic info and you can use it to track your sales conversions. It is widely known in the internet world that how your website looks, and what content it has plays a big role in your sales funnel.

You can add new pictures, grapics, content and adjust the layout of your webpages and offers, and then track the results to see if these changes brought you more sales by analysing your visitors behaviour. If the new changes are enticing more people to click your add to cart or further information button, you are on to a winner. If not just role back the changes.

Tracking results is the fun part of seo as it allows you to see the reults of the traffic you are getting and allows you to judge your campaign strategy. If something is working well you can apply more effort to that strategy over another and increase your traffic and bottom line.

I hope you enjoyed this series, it explains the full concept of the seo systems we use at Seo City.
